The U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center is excited to announce a new school field trip program for the spring of 2024 that is FREE of charge to all schools and home school groups.
This is a new and updated outdoor program featuring costumed living history demonstrations. Program goals are aimed at connecting America’s Army of past generations with the Army today while simultaneously incorporating the core curriculum that educators are presenting to the students in the classroom. The principal themes of the new program provide an educational program focused on 6th-10th grade students that cultivates a sense of civic responsibility within students through expanding an understanding of the civilian-military relationship that continues to exist between American citizens and their Armed Forces.
Registration is open on a first come/first serve basis with programming running between 1 March through 31 May. There are a total of 16 programs over the course of that time, with up to 150 students per day. The total length of time for each program is approximately 2 ½ - 3 hours. Registration for time slots can be anywhere from 10AM-1PM. An onsite pavilion is available free of charge to eat lunch, but food arrangements are the responsibility of the school. To reserve your date and time, please email David Harkleroad at David.e.harkleroad.civ@army.mil
