The Young Makers' Academy at Quilted Joy is a progressive sewing program for students ages 9 and up that introduces children to the art and skill of sewing in a supportive, hands-on environment. Designed for beginners as well as students with some sewing experience, the academy teaches foundational techniques such as sewing machine operation, fabric selection, reading patterns, and project construction while encouraging creativity, problem-solving, and confidence. Students complete projects that allow them to practice new skills and build on their knowledge over time.
The program is well suited for homeschool families seeking a practical enrichment opportunity that combines creativity with life skills. Small class sizes provide individualized instruction, and the progressive curriculum allows students to continue developing their abilities through additional levels as they gain experience. The Young Makers' Academy emphasizes patience, perseverance, and the satisfaction of creating handmade projects while fostering a lifelong appreciation for sewing.
