Why should students learn to sew? It's a way to express personal style and enjoy a calming, meditative hobby that boosts mental well-being. Not only is sewing a practical skill, but it's also an art form; children enjoy making something with their own hands, crafting unique designs or following a pattern.
Children learn new skills, build confidence, gain inspiration, and expand their creative outlet. Sewing is fun, challenging, and so very satisfying. When people ask, "Where did you get that garment?" the student can say, "I designed it and created it".
Jackie Scott is highly skilled in design, patternmaking, draping, and sewing construction. She worked in the fashion industry for 20+ years. Jackie currently teaches sewing to children at the Art Students of Denver and has taught there for 10 years.
