Rainbow Willard Studio Art Lessons

Rainbow Willard is an art educator offering private and small-group lessons for homeschool students. With more than 15 years of experience teaching art to children and teens, she specializes in drawing, painting, mixed media, and art history, and works with students in a supportive, low-pressure environment. She also provides portfolio development guidance for students preparing for art school applications. Rainbow holds a BFA in Art Education from Virginia Commonwealth University with a minor in art history, along with a BBA and MBA, and currently teaches high school art in central Virginia. Lessons emphasize creative exploration, critical thinking, and technical skill-building, and are a strong fit for secular homeschool families and pods looking for inclusive, high-quality art instruction.

Course offerings include graphite drawing, colored pencil technique, acrylic and oil painting, ink illustration, printmaking, and mixed media. Classes can focus on specific skills such as light and shadow, building texture, still life, botanical drawing, and whimsical or narrative composition. Art history lessons bring in discussion of influential artists and movements, and portfolio sessions help young artists refine their work and prepare strong applications.

Lessons take place at homeschool pods, co-ops, and private homes, so families can add quality art instruction without extra travel. Weekday availability is generally Tuesdays and Thursdays.
