Michigan law requires local health departments to offer hearing and vision screening at least once between the ages of 3-5. Hearing screening also takes place in kindergarten, second, and fourth grades, and vision screening takes place in first, third, fifth, seventh, and ninth grades. All screenings are at no cost to families.
The law also requires screening prior to kindergarten entry. The earlier a problem is identified, the sooner it may be corrected, and permanent damage may be prevented.
Contact your local health department for an appointment.
