In this 6-week class for children ages 6-14, we explore wheel throwing, hand building, surface design, and glazing. Kids will make sculptures as well as functional items to bring home with them. Projects are open to interpretation with the hope that all students express themselves to the fullest extent in their artwork. We will also practice talking about art in a positive manner, as well as helping others to be successful by sharing and learning. Each class will have both structured instruction and independent time for producing work.
Students are encouraged to return each session to keep building on their skills and interests in clay. As students advance, so do their projects. If there is a special interest your student wishes to focus on in the class, we encourage them to share that with their teacher prior to or during the class so we are aware and can support them with that project.
