Phil Lashley is a guitarist in the northern suburbs of Indianapolis and performs a wide variety of musical genres. Mr. Lashley is also a teacher with 25 years of experience teaching students of all ages, levels, and styles. Phil welcomes students 5 years of age and older, all styles and levels. Students will begin learning basic concepts such as: tuning, playing position, musical symbols, notes in first position, basic chords, and strumming and picking.
As students progress, they will learn: more advanced chords, fingerstyle, scales, improvising, tablature, and notes in second position. More advanced skills include: major, minor, pentatonic and chromatic scales, barre chords, Travis picking, drop D tuning, movable scales, notes in fifth position, slides, hammer-ons, pull-offs, string bends, and chord construction. Students may use acoustic, classical, or electric guitars. Recitals are held at different times throughout the year. Anyone interested in lessons with Mr. Lashley should contact him via email. Information on fees, lesson times, and the private studio policy will be made available. Lessons are at his studio in Carmel, IN, or via Zoom.
