DIVE Math teaches every lesson in each Saxon textbook from a Christian worldview. Each level of Saxon Math has a CD that features a Video Lecture covering each Saxon Math Lesson, practice problems that are different than Saxon's, so student can complete DIVE practice problems and then complete Saxon's practice set if extra practice is needed and a weekly syllabus. The curriculum requires a Windows or Mac Computer with speakers or headphones and the Saxon Home Study Kit with the same edition number as the Dive Math edition. The Home Study Kits must be purchased separately.

    1. DIVE Math Review by Erica

      Pros: student independence
Cons: dull, odd or forced theology, LIVE class allows for no modifications
      Grades Used: 8 & 12

One child is using the self paced course and the other did the LIVE course. Both classes do not invoke any love for math (despite one coming in with it). It is rather full and repetitive. The Christian perspective is odd at best and seems forced onto topics. Example: Today he told the class that they would be future fraudulent voters if they delayed (aka cheated) taking their quiz by a few minutes. I find this and most of his Christian lessons off base. My students spot them as well and wonder.

I do appreciate that my students can work mostly independently!

I would be very aware before paying the extra money for the LIVE course. There is no room in the instructors vision for any modification or grace. He requires students to take notes in a extremely specific format and will grade down if it doesn't fit in with notes that work for his learning style. If you ask to modify, he will "drop" you to the self paced course despite paying for the LIVE course. He will not allow any late work for any reason: family emergency, vacation etc. So be prepared to have zero control over your student's learning. This has been quite a disappointing experience.

      Pros: self directed
      Grades Used: 5/4 & 6/5

My sons have done very well since being able to use this product. It has motivated them to do their work and they both seem to enjoy the freedom of not having to wait for Mom to teach them Math. I have found that it is well worth the extra $50 to get the CD. It frees up my time and helps them to become more independent in their learning. We will definitely stick with this.

      Pros: self directed
      Cons: none
      Grades Used: 7th

My son usually starts the day with this. He learns a lot and is able to do almost of the problem on his own correctly. I only need to check the problems and go through the missed ones with him. Makes teaching math a breeze. We love it. It's a big time saver for me.

Pros: Christian instructor, explains everything clearly, easy to use on the computer
Cons: Had a bad experience with their tech help
      Grades Used: 6-7th

This product saved our homeschooling year this year. We had switched math curriculum to find just the right one. We didn't think there was one out there that suited us. This did it for us. The instruction is very clear and easy to use. The daily lessons are anywhere from 3-10 mins. of instruction.
