Free Homeschool Planner and Organizer

TheHomeSchoolMom Planner is a comprehensive organizer for appointments, school assignments, lesson planning, record keeping, and family menu planning. It is free for personal use and can be viewed and printed with the free Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Another new addition is called Menus 4 Moms. Menus 4 Moms is a full 5-night weekly menu plan with recipes and grocery list already planned out for you. When you subscribe to Menus 4 Moms you will be notified each week when a new menu is posted.

If you have any trouble downloading the planner, please use the Troubleshooting Guide at the bottom of the page.

Download TheHomeSchoolMom Homeschool Planner as individual pages below (each image or title is linked to the corresponding PDF planner page file):

Please use the Save function in the Acrobat Reader (click on the picture of the disk on the menu bar)  to save the Planner files to your computer instead of downloading them each time you wish to make copies. You will not need to be online to view them once they are saved to your computer. In order to keep this resource free, please help conserve our bandwidth by saving a copy of the file to your computer! You may wish to make a folder named Planner in your document folder so you can easily find the planner files. If your Acrobat Reader does not have a picture of a disk on the menu bar, or the Save function is not in the File menu, you will need to obtain the current version of Acrobat Reader.

New - Weekly Planner with Menu Planner on opposite page

The planner is designed to be printed double-sided with the Weekly Planner on one side and the Menu Planner on the other. The Weekly Planner should be hole-punched on the left side of the page which will leave the Menu Planner punched on the right side. When your Planner is open on your desk, the Weekly Planner page will be on the right, with the Menu Planner and Grocery List on the left. The pages are all designed to fit in a standard 8 1/2" x 11" three ring binder. If you print the pages double-sided, your clip-off grocery list will be on the back of last week's To Do list. As you finish the week, copy any incomplete items from this week's To Do list onto the list for next week and clip your grocery list for next week off so you can start your week with all of the items you need for your menu plan. If you are looking for menus that are already planned out for you, check out Menus 4 Moms.

Weekly Planner with Grocery List

The Weekly Planner is designed to be hole-punched on the right side of the page, and the Weekly Assignments/Unschooling Record Keepers are designed to be hole punched on the left side of the page. When your Planner is open on your desk, the Weekly Planner page will be on the left, with the Assignments/Unschooling Record Keeper page opposite the corresponding Weekly Planner page on the right. The pages are all designed to fit in a standard 8 1/2 x 11 three ring binder.

Although the planner pages can be copied two-sided with the Weekly Planner on one side and the Assignment Sheet on the other side, the most practical way to use the planner is to print the pages single-sided, and to use the appropriate Weekly Assignment page opposite each Weekly Planner page. This allows you to add other relevant pages between each week for quick reference, while still allowing both the Planner and the Assignment pages to be seen simultaneously.

Two different Weekly Planners are now available. One uses the left hand column as a Grocery List, the other uses the same space as a To Do List. The Weekly Planner with Grocery List includes space for appointments and activities as well as a meal planner for each day. The left side of the Weekly Planner with Grocery List is a grocery list to be used as you plan you menus and to be clipped and carried with you when you go to the grocery store. For those who choose to use the Weekly Planner with To Do list, a separate Menu Planner has been added to TheHomeSchoolMom Organizer. The Menu Planner includes space to list meals and snacks for and entire week, including a clip-off grocery list with room to note coupons.

There are three different Weekly Assignment pages, with columns for one, two, or three children. If you have two students, you may choose to download either the two column Weekly Assignment page, or the one column and print it on both sides. By using the one column Weekly Assignment page double-sided, you allow more room in each column to detail assignments.

new assignment sheet is available in a slightly different format; this sheet is particularly useful if you wish to give your child a week's worth of assignments and allow him to work at his own pace throughout the week. This sheet is grouped by subject rather than by day.

For those of you using unit studies, the Unit Study Planner can help you organize your resources and pull it all together. The Unit Study Planner is designed to be used as you initially plan your unit. It allows you to list all of your resources, set your goals for your unit, and begin to organize your unit.

Once you have organized a list of your resources and visited the library to finalize the books you have available, the Unit Study Worksheet can be used to record your lesson plans. It has columns to list the activities you plan to do for the unit, including the date, the activity, the amount of time planned for the activity, and any supplies needed or notes for the activity.

Troubleshooting Guide:

If the Planner files do not open for you, try right clicking them and choosing the Save Target As command, saving the file to your desktop. Open the Acrobat Reader, and using the Open... command from the File menu, choose the file you have saved to your desktop. If your Acrobat Reader does not have a picture of a disk on the menu bar, or you click the disk and it says the file cannot be saved, you will need to obtain the current version of Acrobat Reader.  If you still cannot open the file, it may have been corrupted in transit.
