The Southern Maryland Youth Orchestra and Choir (SMYOC) is non-profit working to expand opportunities for talented young musicians in Southern Maryland (Calvert & St. Mary's Counties, primarily). Founded in 2013, SMYOC offers supportive but rigorous choral, orchestral, and small group programs within 6 different ensembles: Youth Orchestra (YO), Prep Strings Orchestra (PSO), 2 Youth Choirs, 2 Prep Choirs. All ensembles meet weekly (in Solomons or Prince Frederick) and perform multiple concerts a year.
Auditions are required for all ensemble participants. Students must register for an individual audition time. There is no fee to audition, but if accepted, tuition is charged for participation. Go to www.smyoc.org for more information about SMYOC's audition process and programs.
