Homeschooling in Tampa Bay:

Goodwill Industries-Suncoast Junior Ambassadors of Goodwill

TheHomeSchoolMom's local resource listings are sponsored by Time4Learning, where you can find resources, support groups, test prep info, and more.

As a Junior Ambassador of Goodwill students will earn up to 35 hours of community service in a fun and meaningful way. These hours may then be applied to Florida Bright Futures Scholarships and/or other service hour requirements. This week-long summer program allows participants to volunteer in a variety of settings while helping others in the community. The program runs form 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday in four cities across the Tampa Bay area from four to six weeks depending upon the location. Participation over multiple weeks is available and encouraged.

Junior Ambassadors learn about and lend a helping hand in retail, outlet, and warehouse operations; the Life Skills Development program for Adults with Disabilities, and the Childhood Literacy program where participants will clean, sort, present, and read books to local Head Start and Elementary school children. Each participant receives two t-shirts to wear while volunteering. Lunch is provided each day. Certificates of completion are awarded at the end of each week’s session. The Junior Ambassadors of Goodwill program is offered free of charge to students 14 years of age and older.
