The Teenage Liberation Handbook, written for young adults, is one of the most popular books among unschooled parents and teens. The author makes the case that high school has a negative effect on lifetime learning, and that teenagers owe it to themselves to try something different by thinking for themselves. The book provides strategies for those alternatives.

This is a really good resource to help kids understand that being in a building isn’t the only way to “do” high school. It talks more about how to really live ones life as a teen, rather than being confined in a building and being told what to do. I think it really opened my eyes as to what teens really are capable of if they are not continually treated like children.
