  1. Star-Spangled State Book Review by Andrea G
    Pros: engaging, affordable
Cons: Pages can be too visually stimulating

    Grades Used: third

My eldest son (third grade at the time) and I thoroughly enjoyed this book. He is a precocious child and this was challenging and engaging for him. He has retained what he learned and has since decided to read books on each state in order to learn even more! It does a great job covering basic facts about each state that every person should know. I will not use this book on my younger son (entering second grade) until he is a bit older because he suffers from Sensory Processing Disorder and Visual Processing Disorder. The pages would distract and overwhelm him. Other than that i fully recommend this curriculum.

  2. Star-Spangled State Book Review by Terri
Pros: fun & great way to learn about all 50 states!
Cons: Can't think of one con...sorry

    Grades Used: 3rd

Love, love, love this course…almost as much as my 8 year old son does. I’m serious, he begs to do this first…and it has a built in schedule to do 4 days a week, but he BEGS to do it on Fridays too! He’s the only 8 year old that I know, that can quickly fill in a blank map of the United State…well almost…he can fill in 45 of the 50 states (and that’s because he still has a few left to learn) I have no doubt that he’ll be filling them all in by the end of next week…did I mention he’s our 3rd grader, has ADD and autism tendencies and we just started these books two months ago…and he also knows most of the state capitals, all the state abbreviations up to what he’s covered thus far…and knows many interesting facts about most of the states he’s covered?!!! Now if I could just find something this fun for him to do when he finishes next week!

  3. Star-Spangled State Book Review by Nicole Hale
Pros: Very kid friendly and engaging
    Cons: a bit distracting

I was blessed to be able to have a free e-copy of the Star Spangled State Work Book – the I must say my kids loved it. Jam packed with interesting facts and tidbits, pictures and information about each state. It dovetails perfectly into our curriculum! I’m using it as a resource, not the actual curriculum, although one could very eaily do that too. Since my children love the graphic novels/comic book styles, this was a perfect fit for them.

  4. Star-Spangled State Book Review by JulieCC
Pros: very visual, inexpensive, great for a group
Cons: can be too visually stimulating

    Grades Used: n/a

This set of student and teacher books are very colorful and fun. They are a great overview of United States geography and culture. They’re visually stimulating, which some studetents and teachers may find overwhelming. I loved having the student PDF book so I could print just one, two-page sheet at a time for my son.
