  1. Speekee TV Review by Tawnee
Pros: immersive, plan plans, lots of video
Cons: no project list, difficult to navigate

    Grades Used: 1-2

Speekee TV is a great concept in learning elementary Spanish. Based in the UK, Speekee TV uses weekly videos to let the child learn through immersion, as recommended for the most effective learning of the language. The videos are fun and there are printable worksheets and activities available from the website. In addition, there is a 40 week lesson plan for homeschooling available on the website with suggested activities to correspond with the weekly lesson and video. With unlimited access to the site, you can watch the videos as often as you want, reviewing or moving around in the program.
There is not a tracker in the program so you have to remember where you are and there is no list of the supplies so you have to sift through the activities and figure out what you have to print and what you need to get for the week ahead of time.’
My dd liked the videos but was upset that we could not make out puppets look like the characters on the videos. There is a use of hand puppets to have interactive conversations and it is recommended to practice these conversations with the puppets, which is a nice idea for early learners to practice conversational Spanish on their own.
I would have liked to see puppets available for purchase, since I’m not seamstress and that was disappointing to my children, and a weekly or monthly resource page so planning would not take as long.
Otherwise, the topics are good, the videos are great, and the material covered seems appropriate.
