Mapping the World By Heart teaches students to draw and label maps of the world without referring to an atlas. There are enough course materials and embedded lessons to last an entire year. The course is appropriate for 5th – 12th graders.

Cons: son memorized too much
Grades Used: middle school
We used Mapping By Heart for a few projects. My son is a visual/global learner, though, and all he did was memorize, not really learn. The drawing was frustrating for him as he doesn’t like to draw or color. He learns much better with electronic media.
I do like the concept and it does teach a lot about different map projections that my son did not know.
