[Update: Congratulations to Sheba (#15), the winner of Investigating God’s World. Sheba, please contact me with your mailing address by Friday, March 11.]
I have a second goodie up for grabs for today: Investigating God’s World from A Beka (grade 5). I have available the textbook along with the teacher edition. The materials are somewhat worn but still in good shape. I noticed just a couple of places with erased marks in the textbook. I do not have the tests or other supplementary materials. These books are copyright 1990.
From the publisher:
This text leads students from the known to the unknown by teaching important science concepts within the context of things they see and know. The aim is to help students understand basic principles of science rather than merely teach them science vocabulary. The world is presented as the creation of God and glorifies Him as its Sustainer and Upholder. The text introduces great scientists and naturalists who believed in the biblical account of Creation, and where appropriate, it refutes the materialist’s faith in evolution. Students learn about plants, animals, matter, energy, light, minerals, and more. Review questions, activites, and demonstrations make this a thoroughly teachable text.
This text is scheduled as a 27-week course.
Reminders: The items in Goodies Up For Grabs may be gently used or like new. While the item itself should be in good condition (I’m not guaranteeing it because I won’t be watching every video or listening to every CD), the covers may not be in great shape. As of this writing, items are all from my personal shelves but that may change if friends offer to contribute to the stash. I may not have actually used the item. (You don’t ever do that, do you? Buy curriculum and not use it? I didn’t think so.) Some of the resources may be older versions – I have several great videos but they are on VHS tapes – so be sure to pay attention to whether the format of a resource will work for you.
The rules are simple – for each item, just post in the comments section of the blog post what you like about that particular item. Please only post once for each item. If you don’t intend to respond with your address if you are the winner, out of fairness to the other homeschoolers who would love to have the item, please do not enter! The choice will be random, so it will not increase your chances of winning to tell how your husband just left you and your house burned down and you lost your job so you really *need* the item. Keep it simple, and happy homeschooling!
