Catered to exceptional kids ages 7 to 12, our activities are centered around Appalachian Folk Wisdom, Plant Lore and Magic, Primitive Skills, and Urban Farming. Local Farmers, herbalists, folk revivalists, storytellers and craftsfolk will join your kids on fruit-finding adventures, cob oven building, and show them how to make magic potions, recycled instruments, homemade root beer, and much more. We look forward to garden fun, cooking with gourmet Chef Pepe, building our own dulcimers, and learning about the plants that surround us. Roots is an opportunity to tap into local traditions and wisdom.

The homeschool hiking/biking annual event began in May 2005 as a way to gain recognition for homeschooling as well as getting some exercise, group involvement, and introducing homeschoolers and their families to hiking and biking in the great outdoors!! It is an annual event now and will be held each year the last full week in May all across the United States. We are asking for individuals and groups involved in homeschooling to set up events in their areas. he Snow Camp Historical Drama Society is a year-round, multi-purpose, non-profit organization. The Society organizes various productions, festivals and activities that provide the public with professional theater and cultural education throughout the year. The historical outdoor drama THE SWORD OF PEACE is a mainstay of the organization and is now entering its 36th year. PATHWAY TO FREEDOM opened in 1994 and is the only outdoor drama in the United States that deals with African-American history and the Underground Railroad. A Childrens Theater production and a Broadway Musical are also produced each summer. Cultural education is provided with the annual Youth Drama Camp, the Molasses and Colonial Living Festival, the Childrens' Theater Tour, and the Historical Site itself.
