Arctic National Wildlife Refuge - Renowned for its wildlife, Arctic Refuge is inhabited by 45 species of land and marine mammals, ranging from the pygmy shrew to the bowhead whale. Best known are the polar, grizzly, and black bear; wolf, wolverine, Dall sheep, moose, muskox, and the animal that has come to symbolize the area's wildness, the free-roaming caribou. Thirty-six species of fish occur in Arctic Refuge waters, and 180 species of birds have been observed on the refuge. (Y, M, O, T)

Caribou Mysteries - "Caribou Mysteries: Science Sleuths and Detective Math" provides Middle School science and math lessons and activities about caribou. "Caribou Mysteries" was created by teachers at Randy Smith Middle School in Fairbanks, Alaska, and by biologists at the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and the Alaska Department of Fish and Game. Bering Land Bridge - The Bering Land Bridge use to connect Asia to North America. The connection still exists today between the people of Russia and Alaska. Bering Land Bridge National Preserve is home to many geological wonders like Devil Lake, the largest maar in the world. Beringia Ethnic-Nature Park helps to conserve wildlife species such as bears, walrus, birds,fish, wolverines, fox and other animals. Plant life is protected including endemic species found no where else in the world. The culture of the people of the Chukotkan Peninsula is supported in the park as well. Westmoreland State Park Wildlife Education Program - Westmoreland State Park offers Project Wild - a Wildlife Education Program on Saturday, February 23, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. During the workshop, participants will receive a Curriculum Guide and the Va. State Park's Your Backyard Guide that contains a wide variety of activities that teach about wildlife, habitat and ecosystems, along with supplementary information about Virginia's wildlife. This is a hands-on inquiry based workshop. Dress comfortably, wear walking shoes, and be prepared to spend some time outside. Registration is required.
