Interactive Periodic Table of Elements - "In the past six months, through research of health and environmental pages, literature and chemistry sources, we have created the below listed resource; 'periodic table'. What makes this periodic chart unique is that you can click on the respective elements that links to a page that explains its chemical properties, health effects, environmental effects, application data, an image and also information of the history/inventor of each element. (T,O)
Anatomy of a Hot-Air Balloon - From the Plano Balloon Festival: About Balloons. (Y, M, O, T)
History of Hot-Air Ballooning - It is now more than two hundred years since the first balloon took to the skies. The Montgolfier brothers, two paper makers from the southern French town of Annonay, were intrigued by the way smoke rises above a fire. They decided to capture its lifting powers with small paper and cotton balloons and, while they were mistaken in their faith in the smoke itself (or 'Phlogiston' as it was referred to at the time), they succeeded in creating the world's first hot-air balloon. (Y, M, O, T)
How Hot Air Balloons Work - From How Stuff Works. (Y, M, O, T)
Chemistry Freeware - free educational software (O)
CHEMystery - Online chemistry textbook; includes online homework help, an introduction to chemistry, 3-D renderings of molecular structures, and lots more from basic to complex chemistry (O)
Make a snowflake - "Make an amazing snowflake from real crystal (borax). This is a beautiful project (and also demonstrates some basic principles of chemistry)." (Y,M)
Middle School Science - "Middle school science is a delicate balance of trying to teach scientific concepts without being too "elementary" or too "high school"... I originally created this web page as a resource for my students. The idea was for them to have a place to check homework assignments, print out handouts at home, and visit safe links. (M,T)
Chem4Kids - Chem4Kids has information on matter, atoms, elements, the periodic table, reactions and biochemistry. This site offers an introduction to the science of chemistry, including an interactive periodic table. It is well-designed and full of great information (T,O)
Atom Builder: You Try It - " Here's a chance for you to construct a carbon atom. You'll start with a hydrogen atom, which contains one proton and one electron. Just add protons, neutrons, and electrons. By the way, you must also build each proton and neutron from two types of quark (T,O)
