TheHomeSchoolMom's Resource of the Week: Evernote Evernote is your new best friend. Really. With apps/software for almost all platforms, Evernote is free and works with nearly every computer, phone, and mobile device out there. Jeanne Faulconer blogs about how she uses One Note for homeschooling, and her One Note uses can translate almost universally to Evernote. It’s not just for homeschooling, though. Anything that would work in a physical notebook will work in Evernote, but with instant access from your phone. Homeschooling assignments, support group meeting agendas and notes, coupons, shopping lists, recipes, birthday party plans, receipts, travel information, family history records – there is almost nothing that doesn’t fit into Evernote. Because you can put multiple file types (images, music, spreadsheets, documents, checkboxes, and more) into a note, Evernote is perfect for organizing just about anything from homeschool support group meetings to birthday parties.

Evernote is the perfect place to keep all of those online coupons that you receive by email from rewards programs. Just install the Evernote Web Clipper, and with the touch of a button you can clip anything on a webpage (or an entire webpage) to an Evernote Notebook which can then be accessed on all of your other devices including your smartphone (this requires syncing, which is free and easy). If the coupon is in an email, use the Send PDF to Evernote feature to send the email to Evernote. No more getting to a store and realizing that they had a coupon offer and you didn’t print it. Want to try that new recipe that you saw online? If you clipped it to Evernote, you can quickly pull it up while you are in the grocery store to make sure you have the ingredients.

The getting started guide will sense whether you are on a Mac or Windows computer and give you the appropriate steps to download Evernote and start using it. Go do it. Now. It will revolutionize the way you organize everything.
